A brief introduction..

Hello, I’m Ben! A hardworking driven individual who likes to tackle things head on. Curious by nature, I'm the type of software developer that likes to get down to the bottom of things. Molded by my artsy background in film and performance art, I'm a motivated out of the box thinker ready to take on any challenge!

I have a degree in Film & Digital Media, and some business management under my belt. After graduating UCSC, I came home to help manage the family coffee shop. From there I wanted to improve my skillset, so I joined a coding bootcamp to help accelerate my learning. I had a great experience and came out feeling confident to put my skills to use!

I’ve now begun my journey in tech and love it. I’ve seen technology help create better and brighter futures for people, and that’s something I want to be a part of. I love learning and I love being able to contribute. Tech allows me to indulge in both of those things! But enough about me, check out my projects down below to see what I’m about!

Family Reunions Project

Virtual Reality is hailed for it's ability to transport. This project aims to unite families that have been separated, and does so by creating VR post cards families can send to one another.

I designed their website!

Photography Portfolio

My friend needed a photography site done, so I made one for him! This is a responsive single page layout using flexbox. Images are loaded up via AJAX, and are displayed through a horizontal infinite-pagination side scroll.

TipTap

You're at an open bar. Wanna leave a tip, but don't have any cash on you? TipTap!

A mobile tipping platform. Created by a team of 4, this was my team's final project for Dev Bootcamp. Created in the span of 8 days.

React-Native / Rails

Bullzeye

Build an online shop in the span of a week. Have daily meetings with your "client", switch code bases with another group and pick up where they left off. Bullzeye!

This was fun exposure to group work that simulated spontaneous decision making. It was also a great learning experience, as it allowed us to practice our most recently acquired skills.

Rails Online Shop

Solo round! Like Bullzeye, but me, myself & I.

I wanted a better understanding of Rails, so I redid the online store challenge to focus on the parts I didn't get a chance to fully explore in a group project setting.

No gems allowed, so a very thorough deep dive exercise.
